We are proud to announce our founder, Jamaica Miller, was awarded the Humanitarian Award in appreciation of her contribution of time, acts of kindness shown toward her community and her devotion to the welfare of humanity. The Athens-Clarke County Democratic Committee (ACCDC) Community Engagement awarded Jamaica at a ceremony on Sunday, August 7th, 2022. Other awardees include Mayor Kelly Girtz, Bethel Baptist Church, Homer Wilson, sisters Sheila Hill and Sharon Barnet, among others.
The event was the first inaugural ACCDC Humanitarian Awards. Each award was presented by a member of the ACCDC. Two speakers on the campaign trail, Charlie Bailey and Rep. William Boddie, spoke during the ceremony. Conolus Scott presented the award to Jamaica, announcing all the ways she volunteers within the community as well as touching on the mission of Wheels of Hope. Dinner was served after the ceremony with wonderful music by Stanley Stroud. Jamaica was accompanied by her mother Diane Miller, several board members of Wheels of Hope, and friend Jerrie Toney. The event was a great success, we look forward to more in the years to come.
